The Carnival

I can hear screams of laughter coming from above where the ferris wheel is spinning around like a spinning top. I can smell the sweetness of the candyfloss filling the air where ever I go. I hold the candy floss in my hand, it looks like a pink tree that has just blossomed and I take a big bite of it's sweet flavours. I can feel the breeze of the frosty, cold wind on my soft skin. I can see vivid lights coming from all around. I can hear ear-splitting, loud, pumping music. I line up to queue for the roller-coaster that looks above me like a highway in the sky. I'm excited and nervous, the adventure begins.

ANZAC Soldier

As I’m waiting for my enemy to approach, I’m blending in with rocks, like a chameleon. The ground is as rough as elephant skin. As the sun lies down behind the sand hills they sky turns a vivid grey-blue. I can hear guns being shot from behind the hills so I hide beside a gorse like tree trying not to be seen. I can hear my heart thumping. My hands start to go numb as I may have to fight for my life. I hope I make it home to see my wife and family again.
